The Collegium Strings
Collegium Strings, comprised of local college students as well as juniors and seniors
in high school under the direction of Ian Watson and Peter Sulski. Peter
Sulski, co-founder of the Worcester Collegium and violist, has appeared as
a soloist and recitalist throughout Europe, the Middle East, and the United
States.
The professionals from the Collegium, under the direction of Watson and
Sulski, mentor the members of the Collegium Strings. The Collegium players
will play alongside the Strings player during the Collegium Strings
concerts. The Collegium Strings player may then perform alongside his or
her mentor during a Collegium performance when they are ready. This
invaluable experience and partnership with leading musicians helps to
develop the Collegium Strings player into the future Collegium professional
musician. This partnership also works together to promote music education
in the public schools throughout Worcester County. Together, members of the
Collegium and Collegium strings will perform and provide information as
well as instructional sessions in the public schools. These sessions
include an invitation to area youth that assists to form our third level of
the Collegium, the Collegium Youth.
